Pendola
The History
The apartment used to be the big kitchen of the villa plus a couple of storage rooms. When we started to reshape it we discovered a pendulum painted on the wall similar to the one still standing somewhere in the house. We saved it as a distinct trait of the apt which started to be called by that name. The big kitchen has been divided to allocate a bedroom, but still retains a big stone sink incredibly heavy. The mantle peace is half of what used to be.
The Rooms
The first two windows on the second floor of the picture on the right are Pendola's (If you are curious click on them). They face south so are very sunny, shaded only by the big magnolia tree that you see on the right side. The crawling ivy is called "ampelopsis" and is definitely going to ruin the wall, but my mother loved it so nobody dares to touch it. In the fall it turns red and it's a beauty (See it).
The apartment is made of four rooms: kitchen and living room face south on the front garden (shown in the first picture), while the two bedrooms and the bathroom are in the north side. You can see their windows in the second picture: they are the last two on second floor. You'll also notice that in summer the north side is sunny a well. Finally this picture shows the flight of stairs thet lead the apartment reserved to the guests.
The furniture is simple and rustic, but comfortable; the bathroom has a shower.
Being on the first floor the apt is very sunny which is nice in the cold seasons.
In winter when you spend more time in the house, this is what you see. (Please be patient).
Weeks start and end on Saturdays.
